For students in India aspiring to pursue a career in medicine, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are the two most popular options. However, deciding which one is the better option can be quite challenging. In this blog, we will compare the two exams and help you make an informed decision.
NEET is a national level entrance exam that is conducted for admission to medical and dental colleges across India. The exam is conducted once a year and tests students on their knowledge of physics, chemistry, and biology. NEET is recognized by all medical and dental colleges in India, making it the most popular choice for students.
AIIMS, on the other hand, is a group of autonomous public medical colleges in India. AIIMS conducts its own entrance exam for admission to its institutes. The AIIMS entrance exam is considered to be one of the most challenging medical entrance exams in the country, and only a few students manage to clear it. However, AIIMS is considered to be one of the best medical colleges in India, offering excellent infrastructure and faculty.
Now, let's compare the two exams based on various factors.
Difficulty Level: Both NEET and AIIMS are challenging exams, but AIIMS is considered to be more difficult. The AIIMS entrance exam tests students on their analytical and logical reasoning skills, while NEET focuses more on theoretical knowledge.
Number of Seats: NEET offers admission to a large number of medical and dental colleges across India, while AIIMS has only a limited number of seats. In fact, there are only 15 AIIMS institutes in the country, offering a total of 1205 seats.
Fee Structure: The fee structure for AIIMS is relatively higher than NEET. While NEET is affordable for most students, AIIMS can be quite expensive.
Infrastructure and Faculty: AIIMS is known for its excellent infrastructure and faculty. The college has state-of-the-art facilities and experienced faculty members. NEET, on the other hand, offers admission to a large number of medical and dental colleges across India, with varying infrastructure and faculty quality.
